The book highlights not only the famous figures, such as Susan B. Anthony, who visited the region to drum up support for the cause, but home-grown heroes, including Inez Milholland, a national figure whose local ties helped turn the tide. Four SUNY Plattsburgh students contributed to this booklet with further research on the County’s Suffrage struggle. 7 Clinton County Civil War Record 1861-1865 This 606-page, two-volume set, created by CCHA’s Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee through a grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership , is the most comprehensive work of its kind, featuring the names of over 5,600 Civil War veterans who either enlisted or are buried in Clinton County. The book is divided by towns and then regiment and has a 35-page index. The book was printed through a grant from the Champlain Valley Heritage Partnership. 8 William H. Miner - The Man and the Myth In this meticulously researched book, the author brings to life William H. Miner (1862-1930), a businessman, agriculturist, philanthropist, and visionary of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
