From 1755 to 1995, military battles and maneuvers made lasting impacts on the landscape of Clinton County and the seascape of Lake Champlain. Exhibit artifacts reveal this sweeping history, including a diorama — created by world-renowned artist Arto Monaco — depicting the Battle of Valcour in 1776 and the Battle of Plattsburgh in 1814.
Other gallery exhibits share the stories of the county’s involvement in the Civil War, World War I and World War II and the Cold War. The museum sits on land used for a military base since 1814, and our military gallery honors and explains this important legacy.
